Description

A delicious twist on classic sloppy joes, served on cheesy garlic bread for a flavorful and satisfying meal that’s perfect for family dinners or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 medium yellow onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 loaf French bread, cut in half lengthwise
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
2 cloves garlic, minced (for garlic butter)
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
Stir in ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and water. Mix well to combine.
Reduce heat to low and simmer the sloppy joe mixture for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
While the sloppy joe mixture simmers, prepare the cheesy garlic bread. In a small bowl, combine softened butter, minced garlic, and chopped parsley.
Place the French bread halves on a baking sheet, cut side up. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the bread.
Sprinkle shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses evenly over the garlic buttered bread halves.
Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the bread is toasted.
Remove the cheesy garlic bread from the oven and spoon the sloppy joe mixture generously over the bread halves.
Slice each bread half into 2 pieces to serve, making 4 servings total.
Serve immediately and enjoy your cheesy garlic bread sloppy joes!
