One Pot Sausage Pasta Dinner

Description

A hearty and flavorful one pot sausage pasta dinner that combines savory sausage, tender pasta, and a rich tomato sauce for an easy and satisfying meal.


Ingredients

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound Italian sausage, casings removed
1 medium yellow onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes
4 cups chicken broth
8 ounces penne pasta
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley


Instructions

Heat olive oil in a large pot or deep skillet over medium heat.
Add the Italian sausage, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
Add the diced onion to the pot and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
Pour in the diced tomatoes with their juices and the chicken broth.
Add the penne pasta, dried oregano, dried basil, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper.
Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low and simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed, about 15 minutes.
Remove the pot from heat and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and combined.
Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
